Quickstart
This guide walks you through the basics of getting logged in, finding pre-approved tools, and running your first automated workflow in Rival. It is written for team members, department leads, and creators working inside an active team workspace.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”Make sure you have the following in place before running your first workflow:
- Company sign-in — you can log in using your invited corporate credentials.
- Connected accounts — your work accounts are linked if your team’s workflows need access to them.
- Correct workspace — you are logged into the right team environment. Double-check that you are in your actual team workspace rather than a testing sandbox.
Run your first automation
Section titled “Run your first automation”-
Sign in.
Log in using your invited company email and password. Once signed in, you will land on your main workspace dashboard. Take a quick look at the main areas:
- Left sidebar — quick access to your Workspace, Marketplace, Agents, Workflows, Connectors, and Settings.
- RivalBot assistant — a built-in assistant ready to help you discover tools or draft new workflows.
-
Find and adopt approved tools.
In Rival Enterprise, you pick from tools and workflows that your IT and security teams have already reviewed and approved.
- Click Marketplace in the left sidebar.
- Search or filter by category to find pre-built tools. Workflows are step-by-step automated business tasks; Agents are AI team members configured to handle specific roles.
- Choose a simple starter tool to test from your approved tool list.
- Click Adopt to add it directly to your personal workspace inventory.
If a tool shows a Requires Approval tag, clicking Request Access sends a quick approval request to your workspace administrator before you can use it.
-
Run the automation.
Once a tool is added to your workspace, running it takes just a few clicks:
- Open the tool from your Workspace tab.
- Fill in any required details, such as a link to a file, a date range, or a destination channel.
- Click Run.
- Watch it work. Rival coordinates the behind-the-scenes steps, communicates with your connected apps, and shows you step-by-step progress as it runs.
-
Handle human approvals.
To keep work under control, actions that update sensitive data, send external emails, or involve spending require a quick human sign-off before finishing. The task begins, Rival handles the data gathering and analysis, the run pauses at the human approval gate, and the final action completes only once someone approves.
When a workflow reaches a human approval step:
- The process pauses and sends a notification to your Requests and Approvals tab.
- Review the details — the draft message, updated record, or file being created.
- Approve and the automation executes the final step and logs the completion. Reject and the automation halts immediately; the workflow initiator is notified with any reviewer comments and can edit and resubmit the workflow or cancel it.
-
Check results and history.
- View the results — find your finished work inside the Run View or in your connected app, such as a new Slack message or an updated spreadsheet.
- Review activity logs — open the Activity tab to see a complete summary of the run, including timestamps, steps taken, and who approved the action.
