Welcome to Rival Enterprise

Rival is an Operational AI platform. It doesn’t just answer questions — it does the work. Your teams use it to run real business processes: agents that take action, workflows that automate multi-step tasks, and a marketplace of ready-to-use AI tools, all under enterprise governance you control.

This documentation is your reference for everything in the enterprise product — from your first login to rolling AI out across the whole organization. It’s organized by topic, so use the sidebar to jump straight to what you need, or see Where to go next below.

What is Operational AI?

Most AI tools give you answers. You ask a question, you get a response, and it’s on you to go do something with it. Rival is built around actions. You describe the outcome you want, and Rival’s agents and workflows carry it out — pulling from your connected systems, following your rules, and stopping for human approval wherever you’ve decided a human should sign off.

The simplest way to hold the difference in your head: a chatbot is a smart intern who writes you a memo. Operational AI is the intern who writes the memo, files it in the right place, flags the one number that looks off, and waits for your yes before sending it out.

How Rival is different

Rival is designed for organizations that need AI to be useful and governed at the same time. That shows up in a few deliberate choices:

  • Answers vs. actions. Rival executes work end to end, not just generates text.
  • Model-agnostic architecture. Rival isn’t tied to a single AI model. You can route work to the best model for the job.
  • Bring Your Own Model (BYOK). Use your own model provider and keys where you need to.
  • Governance-first design. Approvals, permissions, and guardrails aren’t bolted on — they’re the foundation. Admins decide what’s allowed before anything runs at scale.

  • Marketplace + custom development. Start with pre-built agents and tools from the marketplace, or build your own for the work that’s unique to you.
  • Multi-agent orchestration. Complex work can be handled by multiple specialist agents coordinating with each other, not one model doing everything.

A few core concepts show up everywhere in Rival. You’ll get the full detail in the product sections, but here’s the quick map:

  • Agents — AI workers that take action toward a goal.
  • Workflows — automated, multi-step processes with triggers, actions, and approvals.
  • Tools & Functions — specific capabilities agents and workflows can use.
  • Connectors — secure links to your systems (Slack, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, and more).
  • RivalBot — your assistant for finding automation opportunities and building inside Rival.
  • Marketplace — where you discover and adopt pre-built agents, tools, and workflows.

How work flows through Rival

At a high level, work moves through the same path every time:

  1. Trigger — something kicks off the work (a schedule, an event, a person asking).
  2. Action — an agent or workflow does the work, using tools and connected data.
  3. Approval — where you’ve required it, a human reviews and approves before anything final happens.
  4. Result — the outcome is delivered, logged, and visible in your activity and analytics.

That approval step is the heart of Operational AI in an enterprise: it’s how you get the speed of automation without giving up control.
